Welcome to Tabor Adelaide's extensive range of Postgraduate Study Programs.
Abraham Lincoln is reported to have said that he had no wish to be the slave of any master, or the master of any slave. In a different context the great German theologian Jürgen Moltmann once wrote that the same could be said of him: “I have no wish to be the teacher of students eternally bound to me, or to be the mere student of teachers to whom I was eternally bound. My theology is not designed for repetition. It is intended to stimulate people towards their own theological thinking, and their own theological experience.”
This is true for any discipline of learning, and it is a conviction that is very important to us in all of our postgraduate study programs at Tabor Adelaide. We do not exist to tell you how to think: we exist to stimulate you so that you can carve out and shape a way of thinking and living that not only makes sense to you, but also contributes in a vital way to the Kingdom of God. Students and faculty alike are exposed to a form of multidisciplinary thinking that expands and enlarges us all as human beings.
Tabor Adelaide embraces three distinctive commitments: academic excellence, authentic community and a multi-denominational ethos. These have developed over the past 30 years out of a robust charismatic and evangelical heritage, and together they enhance the learning experience that you will discover at the college. We are privileged to have a growing postgraduate community of staff and students who are engaged in stimulating conversation and learning.
Students enrolled in Tabor Adelaide’s postgraduate courses are encouraged to meet in a program of presentations, seminars and discussion sessions held on a regular basis at the college campus. This program, known as the Tabor Adelaide Postgraduate Fellowship (TAPF) was established at the beginning of 2005, and launched by the Director of the Doctor of Ministry program at Fuller Theological Seminary (USA).
As well as introducing students to the insights of guest speakers (both local and international) and college faculty, the TAPF program serves as a forum for peer review and discussion of student progress in their thesis research studies: students are invited to make presentations of their research ideas and progress to date, thus affording an opportunity for ongoing evaluation and assessment within the context of an emerging academic community of scholars and practitioners.
As noted elsewhere on our website a new partnership was forged in 2009 with Fuller Theological Seminary with regard to the delivery of their Doctor of Ministry postgraduate coursework units. Embracing the School of Theology, School of Psychology, and School of Intercultural Studies, Fuller is an evangelical, multidenominational, international, and multiethnic postgraduate community with a worldwide reputation for excellence, and we look forward to a fruitful relationship with them as we continue to develop our postgraduate programs at Tabor Adelaide.
Postgraduate courses ranging from Graduate Certificate level to doctoral programs are offered in the Ministry, Theology & Culture school, and courses ranging from Graduate Certificate level to Masters level are offered in Counselling, Education and Humanities. I encourage you to browse the linked pages in order to discover the wide range of programs now available at Tabor Adelaide. In addition to the courses outlined on these web pages, we are continuing to add to our portfolio of courses in order to meet the changing needs around us. I encourage you to enquire further about what we can offer you.
Yours warmly in Christ
