Ministry, Theology, & Culture - Course Information
Tabor College has a wide range of Undergraduate options within the Ministry, Theology & Culture (MTC) Faculty. Students can study full-time or part-time; during the morning, afternoon, or evening; on campus, or externally, including across the internet.
We offer Vocational Education qualifications.
We offer a program of study for those who would like to step up and serve God in a fresh way but don't have the time, interest, or need, to do degree-level study. Our Vocational, Education and Training, (VET), program is practical and skills-based while allowing you to dig deeper into your Christian faith and to get more out of your Bible reading.

We offer
three Bachelor Degrees:
- Bachelor of Ministry (BMin): This allows a person to prepare themselves for service in, with, and on behalf of the local church and its allied ministries. It has an emphasis upon ministry practice and application.
- Bachelor of Theology (BTh): This allows a person to equip themselves with a deep understanding of the Scriptures, the story of the Church, and its historical teaching, in dialogue with contemporary theological scholarship.
- Bachelor of Intercultural Studies (BIS): This prepares students to live and work in contexts beyond the walls of the Church, in Australia and overseas. It emphasises the need to understand other cultures in order to communicate God better to them.
We also offer a Master of Arts Christian Studies, and the Graduate Diploma in Christian Studies. These courses are graduate entry courses that allow the student to discover how to integrate their faith into their vocational setting.
Tabor’s MTC Faculty also offers multiple exit points for its Undergraduate courses:
- Those who complete 25 units of study will receive a Bachelor Degree (this is the equivalent of three years full-time study).
- Those who complete 17 units of study will receive an Associate Degree (this is the equivalent of two years full-time study).
- Those who complete 8 units of study will receive a Diploma (this is the equivalent of one year full-time study).
All students will fulfil a core selection of subjects, which explore the Bible, theology, and ministry. But as students progress further into their course and gain a stronger sense of direction, they can begin to choose a major or minor in any of the following areas:
- Biblical Studies: This allows students to gain a deeper understanding and appreciation for God’s word. Subjects will include New Testament Greek, as well as subjects focusing on key parts of the Bible, such as the Pentateuch, the Pauline letters, or the Gospels. This is available as a major or minor for both BMin and BTh courses, and as a minor in the BIS.
- Theology: This helps student explore in greater depth the infinite God and our relationship with Him. Subjects may include the Kingdom of God, Contemporary Theological Issues, Biblical Theology, and several Church history subjects. This is available as a major or minor for both BMin and BTh courses, and as a minor in the BIS.
- Church History: Students can explore the ways that God has worked through His people over the last 2000 years. Available subjects include the Early Church, the Medieval Church, Reformation, and the Church in Australia’s past. This is available as a major or minor for both BMin and BTh courses, and as a minor in the BIS.
- Contemporary Church Studies: This helps students understand the Church in the current setting, and their role and place within in it. Subjects may include Building Aussie Churches, New Paradigms of Missional Church, and internships in ministry. This is available as a major in the BMin course, and as a minor in the BMin, BTh, and BIS courses.
- Pastoral Care: This is designed to help students better facilitate guidance, support and counselling within a Christian ministry context. Subjects may include Pastoral Counselling skills, Mentoring, and Biblical Ethics. This is available as a major in the BMin course, and as a minor in the BMin, BTh, and BIS courses.
- Pastoral Leadership Major: This is specifically designed for those seeking to take up pastoral leadership, possibly via ordination in their particular denomination. Subjects may include Preaching, Worship, and Christian Leadership. This is available as a major in the BMin course, and as a minor in the BMin, BTh, and BIS courses.
- Intercultural Studies: This is for students seeking to understand how to bring people from different cultures into a deeper understanding of Christ. Subjects may include Global Mission Today, Intercultural Life and Work, or Poverty and Integral Mission. This is the major for the BIS course, and is available as a minor in the BMin or BTh courses.
