Humanities - Postgraduate Studies
Welcome to the Humanities Postgraduate web pages. Tabor Adelaide has been developing its postgraduate course program in the Humanities for a number of years, and we are delighted that we can offer you an array of courses, ranging from Graduate Certificate courses to Master’s level. (In the near future we expect that Creative Writing will be offered at Doctoral level.) Postgraduate students in Humanities have the opportunity to choose major areas of postgraduate study from among the following disciplines:
- Philosophy
- History
- English
- Creative Writing
- TESOL
- Sociology
- Society and Environment
- Religion and Values Education
The Faculty of Humanities draws upon the basic building blocks of the Western intellectual and cultural traditions, as well as the traditions of non-Western cultures. Every aspect of human learning and history is engaged from the distinctive standpoint of the Christian tradition. We believe that all history, ideas and creativity flow from, and ultimately point back to, the God who created us and transforms us (and our human cultures). The Faculty of Humanities seeks to actively and positively engage contemporary culture in light of the gospel.
We aim for the highest academic standards and our faculty are well-qualified in their respective fields with most holding a Ph.D or equivalent, and they actively contribute through the publication of books and journal articles to discussions within their disciplines. While academic excellence and engagement are hallmarks of the Faculty of Humanities, we are also actively engaged with our students on a personal and pastoral level.
All postgraduate courses are available through External Studies, if that is your preferred option, and are fully accredited. Domestic students are able to access the government’s FEE-HELP loans system in order to avoid immediate up-front payments.
If you are an overseas student, course fees are higher than domestic student fees. However, the supportive study environment and the relatively low cost-of-living in Adelaide are strong reasons to encourage those who are overseas/international students to consider Tabor Adelaide as the place to undertake postgraduate study.
Dr Brian T. Trainor
Co-ordinator of Postgraduate Studies in Humanities.
