External Studies

External Studies at Tabor Adelaide is an option that many have taken with success. Courses that are available externally include Theology, Ministry, Counselling, Intercultural Studies, Youth Work and Humanities. There is also a wide range of Postgraduate studies on offer.  Teacher Education,YITS and the Post Graduate Diploma in Counselling are not available externally.

Some Advantages of Studying Externally

  • No travelling. Do your study from the comfort of your home! Most subjects are now delivered online, so you will need a computer and internet connection.
  • A course can be commenced at four set dates in the year, although it is recommended that new full-time students commence at the beginning of either semester 1 or 2.
  • Library books usually are needed for study and upon request will be mailed out free of charge. Students will need to pay for return postage.  However books are not mailed out to overseas students.
  • The Tabor Adelaide website offers much support to external students including the Library catalogue and many other resources.
  • The short Study Techniques subject is a requirement of study at Tabor, unless the student has a prior Bachelor degree.  This subject will be done at the commencement of a course.  The student may also be required to do the subject Language Skills.  Both of these subjects give valuable information about how to study, and explain the requirements of Tabor’s academic procedures.
  • FEE-HELP is on offer to external students who qualify, as is AUSTUDY/ABSTUDY/YOUTH ALLOWANCE.   The criteria for Fee-Help is that student is an Australian citizen, and is studying at least one subject in a specific course at degree level or above.
