Education
The School of Education prepares students with knowledge, skills and experience, equipping them to serve students and schools. We recognise that good teaching positively impacts the lives of children and young people. We also recognise that teaching is diverse, contextual and demands a wide range of skills and abilities. To appropriately prepare students the School of Education provides rich, thorough, and interactive learning experiences allowing students to grow in their understanding and experience.
Education impacts everyone and parents have a wide choice of schools for their children. Parents want teachers who are well prepared, enthusiastic and who genuinely care about their children.
Students undertake professional experiences in both State and Independent schools including for undergraduates a compulsory country placement. Our graduates are accredited to teach in State or Independent schools with a very high percentage of them able to secure teaching employment.
These skills include:
- developing and teaching appropriate curriculum,
- building strong foundations in maths and literacy within children
- understanding how to differentiate the curriculum to meet the diverse needs of students,
- behaviour management strategies,
- assessment and reporting
- building strong, ethical, professional relationships with students and parents
It’s a busy yet professionally rewarding life!
